Performance & Powertrain
Two engines are available for 2027, each built and tuned for specific workloads.
The available all-new Duramax 8.3L Turbo-Diesel V8 is assembled in Brookville, OH. It produces 555 hp and 1,230 lb-ft of torque, enabling a maximum tow rating of 38,000 lbs. Max payload with this engine reaches 6,170 lbs. The diesel pairs with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission that incorporates diesel exhaust braking and grade-braking strategies to reduce brake stress on long downhill runs.
The enhanced 6.6L gas V8 is assembled in Tonawanda, NY. It produces 412 hp and 472 lb-ft of torque, with a maximum tow rating of 19,000 lbs and a maximum payload of 6,990 lbs. This engine now includes an oil level sensor with a Driver Information Center readout, a feature that eliminates manual dipstick checks and keeps the driver informed without stopping. Both engines benefit from the Tow/Haul Mode, which increases steering damping for better trailer control, and the new eBoost braking system.
