The majority of today’s new Chevrolet vehicles are equipped with the engine Oil Life System (OLS), which has made the 3,000-mile oil change obsolete in most cases. Depending on the age of the vehicle, driving habits and road conditions, vehicles with today’s advanced engines can go longer between oil changes. Always be sure to check your engine oil level regularly, even with an engine OLS.

Remaining Engine Oil Life

For vehicles with the GM Oil Life System, a technician inspects your remaining oil life percentage and determines if your vehicle needs a change.

Tire Wear

The Certified Service experts assess your tires for proper alignment, balance, and condition to help ensure the optimum performance and safety of your vehicle.

Wiper Blades & Glass Condition

A visual inspection of your windshield is completed to check for cracks or chips, in addition to checking the operation and condition of your front and rear wipers.

Fluid Levels

An expert will check the fluid levels in your vehicle’s brake reservoir, windshield washer and others to help ensure smooth operation.

Brakes

An inspection is performed on the condition of your brake system, including lines, hoses, and the parking brake, in addition to measuring the front and rear linings.

Additional Vehicle Inspections

An additional vehicle inspection of critical systems and components is performed to check for visible leaks or damage.

Dexos is GM's proprietary engine oil specification, required for most post-2011 GM gasoline engines. Dexos-approved oils meet specific standards for volatility, oxidation stability, and wear protection that are particularly important for engines with Active Fuel Management (AFM), direct injection, and variable valve timing, all common on current Chevy models. Look for the Dexos sunburst logo on the oil container. We verify the correct specification for your specific engine at every service.

Your Silverado's Oil Life System will alert you when an oil change is needed, typically between 5,000 and 7,500 miles for normal driving. Silverados used for towing, hauling heavy loads, or frequent off-road use reach their oil change intervals more quickly and may benefit from closer attention to the OLS percentage. Don't reset the OLS yourself without changing the oil. It tracks real driving conditions, not just mileage.

No. The Bolt EV and Bolt EUV do not have a combustion engine and therefore do not require oil changes. However, these vehicles do require: tire rotation every 7,500 miles, brake fluid inspection every 2 years, cabin air filter replacement, and annual inspections. The Bolt's single-speed reduction gear uses a small amount of gear oil, but this rarely requires servicing. Our technicians can review your Bolt's specific service needs at any visit.
