2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV

The Future of Trucking Arrives in Glendale

The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV is not just a new model; it is a fundamental shift in what a pickup truck can be. Built from the ground up on GM’s revolutionary Ultium platform, this truck sheds the limitations of traditional internal combustion engines. It delivers the raw power of a heavy-duty hauler and the instant acceleration of a sports car, all while offering the range to drive from Glendale to the Northwoods and back on a single charge.

At Umansky Chevrolet, we understand that Milwaukee truck owners have diverse needs. Some need a rugged workhorse, others need a family hauler, and many just want to get off the gas pump without losing capability. The 2026 Silverado EV lineup answers every one of those needs with three distinct trims: the value-packed Custom, the tech-forward LT, and the rugged new Trail Boss.

First-Hand Experience: The Trail Boss in a Wisconsin Winter

A Note from the Umansky Chevrolet Team

When we heard Chevy was releasing a Silverado EV Trail Boss for 2026, we knew it would be a hit in Wisconsin. To test its mettle, we took one equipped with the Max Range battery for a loop that simulated a typical weekend adventure.

We started at the dealership in Glendale and headed north. The first thing you notice is the 2-inch factory lift and the massive 35-inch all-terrain tires. Usually, big tires mean road noise, but because the electric powertrain is so silent, the cabin remains incredibly quiet.

We took the truck off the pavement near a property development site to test the traction. This is where the electric advantage becomes undeniable. In a gas truck, you wait for the engine to rev and the transmission to downshift before you get power. In the Silverado EV Trail Boss, we touched the pedal, and the torque was instantaneous. The Dual Motor e4WD system didn't just spin the wheels; it micro-adjusted power to the tires with grip faster than a mechanical differential ever could.

On the drive back down Port Washington Road, we engaged Super Cruiseâ„¢. The truck handled the stop-and-go traffic effortlessly, keeping us centered and maintaining a safe distance without us touching the wheel. It wasn't just a truck; it felt like a command center.

Performance: Real Truck Capability

The 2026 Silverado EV isn't a "lifestyle" toy; it is a workhorse designed to outperform its gas-powered predecessors. By removing the engine, transmission, and driveshaft tunnel, Chevy engineers were able to maximize power and utility.

Horsepower & Torque

The numbers speak for themselves. The 2026 Silverado EV offers varying levels of power depending on the trim and battery choice, but every model delivers the kind of torque that pins you to your seat.

  • Standard Performance (Custom): The entry-level Custom trim delivers a robust 510 horsepower and 580 lb-ft of torque. This isn't a "base model" engine; it offers more torque than many V8 gas trucks.
  • Wide Open Watts (WOW): Available on the LT and Trail Boss, you can engage "Wide Open Watts" mode. This unlocks the full potential of the battery, delivering up to 760 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque (GM-estimated). This launches the truck from 0-60 mph in under 4.5 seconds.

Towing & Payload

Forget the myth that EVs can't tow. The 2026 Silverado EV is rated to tow up to 12,500 lbs when properly equipped.

  • Payload: Up to 1,800 lbs, allowing you to load up the bed with gravel, mulch, or tools.
  • Tow/Haul Mode: This mode adjusts the electric drive motors to provide smooth, controlled power delivery. The regenerative braking also acts like an engine brake, giving you immense control when towing a heavy boat or camper down a hill.

Range & Charging: Built for the Long Haul

Range anxiety is a thing of the past. With the available Max Range Battery, the 2026 Silverado EV offers an EPA-estimated range of up to 478 miles on retail trims (and even higher on select configurations). That means you can drive from Glendale to Green Bay, watch the Packers game, and drive home, with over 150 miles of range left to spare.

Charging Options

Level 2 Home Charging: Wake up to a full battery every morning by installing a 240-volt charger in your garage. This is how 90% of charging is done.

DC Fast Charging: On the road? The Silverado EV can accept up to 350 kW at public DC Fast Charging stations. This can add approximately 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

Energy Assist: The Google Built-In infotainment system automatically plans your route to include charging stops if you're heading out on a long road trip, removing the guesswork.

The "Multi-Flex" Advantage

The Silverado EV uses its electric architecture to reinvent utility. Without a massive engine up front, you get storage options gas trucks can't match.

Multi-Flex Midgate®

This feature, available on the LT and Trail Boss, is a game-changer. It allows you to fold down the wall between the cab and the bed.

  • Standard Bed: 5 feet, 11 inches.
  • Midgate Down: 9 feet of continuous load floor.
  • Midgate + Multi-Flex Tailgate: With the tailgate flat and the load stop up, you have nearly 11 feet of storage. You can haul 10-foot lumber or a kayak while still seating a passenger in the front seat.

eTrunkâ„¢ (Front Trunk)

Where the engine used to be is now a lockable, weatherproof compartment called the eTrunk. It offers over 10 cubic feet of space, making it perfect for storing charging cords, groceries, or muddy gear you don't want in the cab.

Spotlight: The Value of the Custom Trim

We are thrilled to offer the Custom trim. Finally, an electric truck that focuses on the essentials. You get the same massive 17.7-inch screen and the same advanced Ultium battery technology as the expensive models, but packaged in a durable, ready-to-work truck. It features a steel roof (instead of glass) and durable interior materials that are easy to clean, making it perfect for active families or business owners.

Interior & Technology: A Digital Command Center

The interior of the 2026 Silverado EV is vastly more spacious than a traditional truck. By pushing the front seats forward (since there is no engine) and the rear seats back, Chevy created a massive cabin with limousine-like legroom in the second row.

7-Inch Infotainment Screen: Standard on all trims, this massive screen runs Google Built-In. You have access to Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Play Store directly from your dash.

Super Cruiseâ„¢: Available on LT and Trail Boss, and standard on RST, this allows for hands-free driving on over 400,000 miles of compatible roads, including I-94 and I-43. It even works while towing!

Panoramic Fixed Glass Roof: Standard on the RST, this roof makes the already large cabin feel even more open and airy.
